If Paraty is the refined, historic grandmother of the Costa Verde, Trindade is the rebellious, barefoot artist grandson. Located just 30 kilometers south of Paraty, Trindade was a legendary refuge for hippies and surfers in the 1970s. The Four Beaches of Trindade

Trindade is essentially one long coastal path connecting four major beaches. 1. Praia do Cepilho: The first beach you see, famous for its massive boulders and world-class surf breaks. 2. Praia dos Ranchos: The village beach, lined with kiosks serving cold beer and fried fish (peixe frito). 3. Praia do Meio: A stunning bay with calm water, perfect for families. This is the starting point for the trail to the natural pools. 4. Praia do Caixa D'Aço: A wilder beach reached by a 15-minute hike from Praia do Meio.

The Jewel in the Crown: Caixa D'Aço Natural Pools

At the very end of the Trindade coastal trail lies the Piscina Natural do Caixa D'Aço. Protected from the open ocean by a wall of giant rocks, this natural pool is a sanctuary for tropical fish. The water is clear, still, and shallow—perfect for snorkeling. Tip: If you're not in the mood for the 30-minute hike from the village, small boats can ferry you from Praia do Meio directly to the pools for a small fee.
